Changelog
Version 1.0.15
October 2026
New
- Pick a button or switch: scene and automation actions and conditions accept
service_name, service_id or service_index to target one service on accessories with several of the same kind, such as a dual relay. get-scene reads the service back, so a round trip keeps it, and a row that could match more than one service now warns instead of silently using the first. automations create also takes --action-json and --condition-json. - Edit an automation in place:
automations edit changes the name, time, weekdays, conditions, time window or auto-revert of an existing automation and keeps its ID. It writes only the fields you pass, previews with --dry-run, and re-reads the automation afterwards to confirm. Thanks to kegelmeier. - Replace an accessory:
automations migrate-actions plans moving an old accessory's automation actions onto its replacement and writes nothing unless you pass --apply. Scenes in the Scenes list are edited in place and checked afterwards. Actions owned by an automation can only be edited by Apple's Home app, so those come back as unsupported with step-by-step Home app instructions. Thanks to bobster16. - Matter node IDs:
list, get, search anddevice-map show matter_node_id, which matches the node indns-sd -B _matter._tcp. Thanks to jasonkuhrt. - Reachability events:
events records a reachability_change when an accessory stops responding or comes back. Webhook triggers opt in with the characteristicreachable.
Fixed
- Sunrise and sunset conditions decode as
before or after instead of unknown. - Conditions no longer resolve to an accessory hidden by the device filter.
- Updated the bundled MCP SDK and npm for security advisories.
Version 1.0.14
October 2026
New
- Last run: scenes and automations now report when HomeKit last ran them (
last_execution_date), and get and get-scene print it. HomeKit records this for only some runs, so a missing date means none recorded, not that it never ran. Thanks to vanpatrickbevill.
Fixes
- Turning off the MCP over HTTP server now waits for open connections to close before it reports that it has stopped.
Version 1.0.13
October 2026
Fixes
- Launch crash on macOS 26: version 1.0.12 wouldn't open on Macs running macOS 26. This update opens normally again. Thanks to Crash22191 and James Webster.
- HomeClaw no longer quits without warning when a command-line client disconnects before reading its reply. Thanks to lostchildwei-maker.
- Reading an accessory that reports an unlimited range, such as an Eve Energy outlet, no longer freezes every later request until HomeClaw restarts.
New
- Accessory groups:
homeclaw-cli groups lists the groups you made in the Home app with "Group with Other Accessories", and can create, rename, and delete them or add and remove accessories. Thanks to Shivanath Devinarayanan. - Each gang of a multi-gang switch can be renamed on its own, and a switch or outlet can be set to display as a light or fan. Thanks to Shivanath Devinarayanan.
Version 1.0.12
September 2026
New
- MCP over HTTP: HomeClaw can serve MCP directly from the app at
http://127.0.0.1:9090/mcp, for assistants that can't launch a local command. It's off by default (turn it on in Settings → Integrations), only answers on this Mac, and only offers read-only tools. Thanks to Keith Herrington. - Everyday CLI commands take
--home, so you can work with a second home without changing your default. A mistyped home name is now an error instead of quietly using your primary home. Thanks to Viz.
Fixes
- Reading an accessory no longer passes off old values as fresh ones. If a live read fails, HomeClaw says so and why, such as the accessory being unreachable. Thanks to ankjaers.
- Automation rewiring now finds every automation the list shows, including time-based ones.
- The OpenClaw plugin loads its tools again on current OpenClaw releases. Tools that change your home now need to be allowed in your OpenClaw config.
Version 1.0.11
September 2026
Security & reliability
- Locked-down control socket: the local control socket is now restricted to your user account, so other accounts on the same Mac can't send it commands.
- Commands can target a single service on an accessory, and changes that can't be applied now report an error instead of silently succeeding.
- Accessory types that used to show up as "other" are now identified by name.
Version 1.0.10
July 2026
Automations & scenes
- Clock-time conditions: trigger conditions now accept clock times, so an automation can be limited to a fixed window, such as motion after 7:00 AM and before 8:30 PM. Clock times and sunrise or sunset offsets can be combined.
- Conditions and time predicates now persist correctly when attached to event triggers.
- Updating a scene now changes its actions in place, so the scene keeps its identity and any automations or Siri phrases that reference it keep working.
- Clearer errors when a scene is owned by an automation and can't be edited directly.
- HomeKit bridge details are now reported for bridged accessories.
- Consistent input handling across commands, including reading from standard input.
- Scene and automation identifiers are uniform, so names and UUIDs work interchangeably.
Version 1.0.5
June 2026
Reliability & filtering
- No more hanging reads — HomeKit reads now have a hard timeout, and
get --no-refreshreturns the last known value instantly. A slow or unreachable accessory no longer stalls the command. - Self-healing control socket and menu bar — automatically recovers from a wedged state on headless Macs instead of going stale.
--category now applies to list --json output, not just the human-readable view.- Correctly decodes threshold triggers and time-range conditions when reading automations.
- Moved to non-deprecated HomeKit trigger predicates under the hood.
Version 1.0.4
May 2026
New look
- Brand-new app icon built with Icon Composer.
- Custom menu bar icon.
- The About screen now shows the app icon and version.
Version 1.0.3
May 2026
- Fuller automation reads —
automations get now surfaces trigger-owned hidden action sets, so you see the complete rule. - The OpenClaw plugin now ships its compiled bundle for a clean one-step install.
Version 1.0.2
May 2026
App Store listing refresh
- Refreshed screenshots showing the new automation capabilities.
- Updated “What’s New” and subtitle (“CLI, MCP, and AI for HomeKit”).
- No functional changes versus 1.0.1.
Version 1.0.1
May 2026
Automations got more powerful
- Add conditions in place —
automations add-condition tightens an existing automation without rebuilding it. Button bindings and Siri references survive. - Time-of-day triggers — new
automations create-time subcommand fires at a clock time or relative to the sun (--time-after sunrise+15). Composes with weekday gates and characteristic conditions. - Auto-revert with
--duration N — trigger fires actions, then reverts them after N seconds. Great for motion-triggered porch lights that should turn off after an hour.
